Have a box of Tissues nearby!

I read See You at Harry's by Jo Knowles and cried buckets.  This book, written for young adults tells the story of Fern and her slightly chaotic family as she prepares to start junior high.  Her oldest sister, Sara, just graduated high school and is sullen that she had to take a year off to help with the family business rather than go to college with her friends.  Her little brother, who is only three, drives her crazy, especially since her parents, who seem to ignore her, dote on him.  During her first bus ride with her older brother she learns that he has been subjected to the worst sort of bullying because he is gay.  She not only has to decide how to respond to the bullying, but how to discuss his orientation, which the whole family simply doesn't discuss.  All this against the backdrop of a family-owned restaurant and her dad's wildly embarrassing publicity stunts.  Boyfriends, friends, and family come crashing down in the face of tragedy.  Surprising, sensitive and in the end, hopeful.
